Happy Earth Day
Meet Twitch:

Twitch is my little friend, emphasis on little. She is a year-old daschund, and only weighs eight pounds. She is sleeping beside me on this Earth Day morning. I will remain in bed with her, and listen to the birds outside my window squawk at one another for awhile. Everything would be perfect right now, if not for my heavy heart.
A few moments ago, I stopped by one of my favorite blogs (One Good Move) and watched this clip of Bill Maher from his show last Friday. In it, he discusses Earth Day, bees, and why humanity is doomed.
As I watched, little Twitch did something rather heartbreaking; she whined, and looked up at me with her big brown eyes as if to say: “Is that man telling the truth? Have you humans really fucked-up our planet beyond any hope of repair?”
I was completely taken aback. Sure, she whines when she wants to go out…or come in…or can’t decide where she wants to be, but I have never heard her whine at Bill Maher before. As a matter of fact, she is a fan of Maher’s show (she likes the theme song). Could it be that she understood what Maher was saying? Was she simply being annoying?
A moment later, she was still staring at me, still waiting for an answer to the question she didn’t ask.
I turned to her and said the only thing I could think to say: “Probably, but hopefully we’ll figure something out before its too late.”
She whined again, and then proceeded to bury her head under the covers and take a nap.
How very human of her.
Hungry for more?

[…] Thing is, Twitch got a little jealous. There we were, laughing and splashing, ignoring little Twitch as she paced back and forth, demanding our attention. What could she do? Twitch decided to join the fun, and sail the seven seas. […]
