A Link-Back Debate
Do you have a blog? Do you like to debate? Are you trying to gain more exposure?
Me too.
This is what I’d like to do: I would like to find an issue, and another blogger who vehemently disagrees with my point of view on said issue, and then engage in a link-back debate. Here is what I envision:
You will begin by picking an issue on which we disagree. Next, post your opinion, and support it with the most rational arguments you can think of. Once published, send me a link, and I will post a response on my blog with a link to your post. Once you have had a chance to read my reply, you can respond with whatever conclusions you have, and a link-back to me.
I see a few good reasons to do this:
-
This is some Grade-A Google whoring. I’m looking for infamy, not money, but I can be honest about my vanity.
-
As the “owner” of this blog, I have total editorial control. If I wanted to, I could edit, clip and outright manipulate your arguments into rubbish in order to make myself feel smarter. As “owner” of your blog, the same is true. By keeping control over our own arguments, we ensure absolute integrity to our readers. This may be naive of me, and I’m sure someone will figure out a way to cheat this system, but I think its a neat idea.
-
I would rather engage a serious debate than perform mental masturbation with endless monologues to myself.
To be clear, I am sure that this is not an original idea. I’m not trying to claim credit for anything. Also, it is not my goal to change anyone’s point of view, but rather, to contrast opposing viewpoints as rationally as possible, as civily as possible.

Is there something I’ve written in the last two days that works? Perhaps my criticism of Yahoo! for excluding presidential contenders from their front page coverage?
