I was very pleased with this interview. Ron Paul addressed my concerns regarding his position on abortion, and once again established his position on civil rights.
Simply stated: civil rights, based on gender, age, race or sexual orientation, are nothing more than institutional prejudice. The real issue is individual rights. Sez Ron Paul: individual liberty is not a talking point, it is a trump card, and it resolves all sub-issues from women’s reproductive rights to affirmative action regarding minorities.
Or, as Thomas Jefferson (one of the most infamous slave owners in history) once wrote:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
For those in need of a more modern translation:
It’s pretty frickin’ obvious that all human beings are pretty much the same, and because of this, we all deserve to be treated like adults and make our own decisions. This is not a privilege granted to us by our Government, but rather, our birthright.
I also find it extremely ironic that in the age of warrantless wiretaps, the NSA and the IAO, Ron Paul has volunteered himself to star in his own webcam feed:
