Constitutional illiteracy

In the 1867 epic “No Treason: The Constitution of No AuthorityLysander Spooner asserts the premise that the constitution for the united States of America is an invalid agreement or contract because nobody living today has ever signed that piece of parchment.

Be that as it may United States Senators still swear to uphold the unsigned document even has they swear at it. The bittersweet irony is that a one Mr. Larry Edwin Craig, a Senator from the Gem State, sure didn’t demonstrate any pearls of wisdom when stopped by the Minneapolis Police.

All the good Senator had to do was invoke the Constitution. Article I Section VI to be exact, it’s remarkably clear: shall in all cases, except treason, felony and breach of the peace, be privileged from arrest during their attendance at the session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any speech or debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other place.

Comrade Craig that day was not charged with treason, a felony or even breach of the peace, in fact Leninist Larry himself was en route to Washington D.C to vote on a cloture motion. It’s quite possible that all Larry was soliciting in that bathroom stall was advice on how to vote. Up or down.

It would be a pity that the very document abhorred by politicians could be used to save their sorry skin. However, unsigned as it may be, the Constitution is the supreme set of Cons in the land and it may even let a bigger Con go.

One can only hear the bellowing and posturing of the Neoconservatives now: “Yeah, Yeah the Constitution is cool, let Larry Craig off the hook you dumb liberal.” Somehow it is doubt these spiteful little twerps will ever give the Constitution or a Pro-Constitution patriot like Congressman Dr. Ron Paul the accolades both sincerely deserve.

One might call the prose and tone of this article unpatriotic because the word Neoconservative was uttered. Maybe, because such Socialist scumbags were also called twerps. Regardless of the name calling and politics of personal attacks, one can fairly say that Senator Craig is an Abomination before the Lord, but even his wretched soul should be saved as is the spirit of liberty behind the Constitution and most of all the confederation of sovereign states located in North America, the continent and not the proposed Union.
