Granted, the CIA doesn’t always have the best intelligence and their methodology for determining monetary matters isn’t very accurate as even an amateur armchair economist could tell you but make sure to scroll all the way through this one.

Actually my guess would be thats the accounts with the worldbank or something and just _might_ be right but there is always more than one way to make debt. For Germany the total debt is 1584 billion EURos at the moment (yes, one thousand five hundred and eighty four). Look it up over here: http://www.staatsverschuldung.de/schuldenuhr.htm
