<< Ron Paul: Bunnies Dig Him A-List Debate >>
Regarding CNN, Anderson Cooper and the NAU
After the CNN/YouTube debate last night, I had the unfortunate experience of watching Anderson Cooper’s “360″ program. For those who don’t know, Anderson Cooper, a former CIA spook is about as terrible as Bill O’Reilly, and only slightly less terrible than Sean Hannity.
This “fact checking” program mentioned the good Dr. Paul only a few times, and each mention was followed with spin, lies and outright fraud. Of course, this is nothing new, but after avoiding the MSM for the past few weeks, I quickly forget just how terrible it is.
After the debate, one of the talking heads on Cooper’s program claimed that Mike Huckabee’s anti-IRS stance (stolen verbatim from Dr. Paul) was “not serious”. He went on to claim that Dr. Paul is still discussing a trans-Texas Corridor which is a “figment of his imagination”. Riddle me this: is fellow CNN journalist Lou Dobbs also a figment of our imaginations?
Same network, very different take:
Bottom line: Is the NAFTA super-highway real? If you are going to ridicule Dr. Paul’s position, you may as well read it first:
“By now many Texans have heard about the proposed ‘NAFTA Superhighway,’ which is also referred to as the trans-Texas corridor,” […] “What you may not know is the extent to which plans for such a superhighway are moving forward without congressional oversight or media attention.”
Consider this: the people from Dr. Paul’s Texas district have sent him to Congress ten times. Are they suffering the same delusions of grandeur, or is this a real issue affecting real people?
Bottom line: the White House makes no secret of globalism, and the intent of trade agreements like NAFTA to bring the U.S., Canada and Mexico closer together. The real question is this: how close do we intend to get? Is Lou Dobbs’ speculation correct? Are our “broken borders” part of a larger agenda?
As best I can tell, the Amero, like the Euro, is going to remain a source of extreme controversy and endless denial, and then, one day it will simply “show up” as if it has been with us all along. And to be clear: I happen to own a few Euros. I have no objection to multi-national currencies, especially one worth $1.50 USD as of 10 am Thursdsay (11/29/07).
So where’s the beef? A total lack of the democratic process, and an absence of Congressional oversight. These trade agreements already exist, and directly affect the lives of every working American. If and when the Amero joins NAFTA, this too will have a tangible effect on the common man. If these trade agreements, and supra-national economic policies are in fact in the best interests of Americans, why the secrecy? When Bill Clinton initially signed NAFTA back in 1994, the conservatives were ranting and raving about it. Today, more than ten years later, they pretend you are crazy for remembering your own recent history.
And yes, the CFR is real too, and Dick Cheney really used to be their director. And yes, there is nothing wrong with developing strong foreign relations with our global network of allies. Again, no one is complaining that the United States engages in foreign relations, we object that the self-described “policy makers” of the CFR do so completely outside the scope of the democratic process.
In closing, and whenever I watch the MSM news for a few minutes, I am left with a single question, one that causes my brain to itch no matter how hard I try to ignore it: Are these reporters idiots, or do they think I am an idiot? After watching Cooper’s show, and then an hour-long program extolling the virtues of negative campaign ads, I fell asleep. I dreamt of a not-so-distant dystopia where the Great North American Union annexed the Wicked South American Union, all the while denying that either union, or any conflict existed. Desperate to prove my case to a friend, I flipped on the evening news. Much to my surprise, but to the great pleasure of my would-be idological adversary, the anchorwoman was quietly adjusting her cleavage, as clips of old Warner Brother cartoons played in the small box floating beside her empty head.
