<< Merry Christmas The Ron Paul Army >>
Mischa matters more than Bhutto
This is the kind of in depth commentary you will only find here at ZaphodForPresident.com.
Today, a cultural icon was assassinated before our very eyes. Instead of protecting her womanhood and honor we chose to turn a blind eye. They attempted to kill her before. At least on the silver or rather the “Plasma” screen.
The girl I speak of is none other than Mischa Barton. The popular character, “Marissa” on the hit show the “O.C” was killed on that program in a car crash. Today, she was arrested and detained for drunken driving, marijuana possession and driving without a license offenses.
She now joins the ranks of many other Hollywood “Bad Girls.” The kind which inspire salacious thoughts in the minds of most red blooded American males.
Should Mischa Barton meet the same fate as Paris Hilton? Is Prison going to really help? Surely, some would argue that a televised spanking on pay-per-view with the proceeds going to some ridiculous left wing charity would be more beneficial.
As much as the entrepreneur and deviant inside cries out for the latter, I must put on my Nancy Reagan mask and shout out “NYET.” I mean just say NO!
Here is why folks: Did Barton injure anyone or damage any property? NO! Is drinking alcohol a criminal offense for a 21 year old? NO! Even if she were 20, what business is it of the State in regulating such affairs?
Marijuana, ooooo so bad. Let’s make her watch 9 hours of “21 Jumpstreet” and ruin her life over a stupid stick of Cannabis. How many people have overdosed on it? Again, why is this any of our business?
No License! Ha! I don’t have one either. Maybe the poor girl just doesn’t want to be on the grid. More likely, she just doesn’t give a damn or one of her agents hasn’t filled out her DMV application. Big deal.
Mischa just like Martha Stewart is being railroaded on a series of non-offenses. Now, had Ms. Barton beaten someone, stole their money or did other harm to persons other than herself, then yes absolutely take the gloves off!
When will the State learn to respect women? Especially, women in need. Let their friends, families and neighbors come to the rescue, not the Los Angeles Sheriff’s department. In a Ron Paul America, it’s very possible that from a Federal standpoint, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms will not exist, nor will Federal Marijuana laws or the Real ID Act.
This could pave the way for the States to liberalize their grip on regulating the lives of free people. In other words, Ron Paul as a Judge would most likely vacate any “charges” levied against Ms. Barton and move on to real criminals.
All of this matters way more than some lady named Bhutto from Pakistan. In a Ron Paul America, it wouldn’t matter if people in Pakistan were assassinated or if chaos ensued in that part of the world. Because, the American government wouldn’t be supporting any faction in South Asia. Our troops wouldn’t be on their land and our tax Dollars wouldn’t be subsidizing their oppressors.
Then without the distraction we could have a real debate about the fate of Mischa Barton and those 1984 styled “laws” in general, which happen to threaten her. Any time someone is detained by the regime it is a troubling event. We must automatically be critical and suspect. The benefit of the doubt is given to the accused. Often times the phrase “innocent before guilty” is employed.
The benefit of the doubt should NEVER be given to the police. Such attitudes are entirely antithetical to the very nature of our free country. In my view such thoughts are unpatriotic and wrong.
Any time the prospect of stripping away someone’s liberty is contemplated, if only for a few hours, we must seriously think very hard about what is being done. Imagine yourself in such a position. Literally close your eyes and picture yourself in the shoes of the captive. Do not foam at the mouth or pound your chest. Relax and take a deep breathe. Remember, ultimately we all pay for the incarceration of our fellow man. I don’t just mean in terms of dollars and cents.
We should live in such a Pollyanna America that as a country we can afford to focus on Mischa and not Benazir. Surely, Ms. Barton is far more attractive than Bhutto. Her story is far more relevant to the lives of average Americans than Benazir’s. Most likely, Pakistani girls would love to dress like her and Pakistani boys would probably line up to date Mischa.
Can you really blame them? Imagine in a Ron Paul America, we would be more focused on exporting shows like the “O.C” which do more to glamorize us rather than the “do-good” policies of Washington that only seem to demonize us.
Without sounding too harsh, may Benazir R.I.P, Pakistan undergo some Californization and America some Ron-Paulization.
Hungry for more?
