Obama: Tragedy & Hope
Obama cannot end the Iraq War, the Federal Reserve, nor the plethora of corrupt systems which have slowly destroyed America.
However, he can become the first black President- and that’s not something to be underestimated.
As a white boy, raised by affluent parents in the suburb, there is only one thing I know for sure about racial relations: everything we knew as “normal” is quickly coming to an end. To be clear: I’m not sure this is a bad thing.
Follow the numbers: the proportion of blacks, browns, whites and yellows is in the midst of a radical transformation, a transformation which will end with whites as a new minority, and Latinos as the new American majority. Within our lifetime, we will witness the end of the “white man’s world”.
The question now facing white America is this: will “they” abuse this majority as “we” have, or, can “they” learn from the mistakes of our collective history?
Perhaps we are entering a new age of racial enlightenment, an age in which a person is judged by character, not color, or better still, not judged at all.
Perhaps we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of history. Perhaps white pastors will soon lead protests in the streets of Alabama protesting new anti-white policies. Perhaps the new majority will respond with fire hoses and dogs, just as our own grandfathers once did.
For better or worse, the chickens are heading home to roost. Strange days indeed.
UPDATE: As usual, Jon Stewart’s take has more humor, and less preaching.
Hungry for more?
