Obama: A Candidacy in Crisis
Currently, more than 5,000 Obama supporters have joined a user group urging Barack Obama to vote against the current FISA bill, which still contains telecom immunity. This group is hosted on Obama’s own website, and can be joined in a matter of moments by clicking right here.
Obama’s “flip flop” on the FISA bill has created a bitter divide among Obama supporters; most notably between those who value their Constitutional rights, and those who think that “our constitutional” is a brisk morning walk through the local mall.
The aforementioned group is currently on fire, as members email each other expressing their outrage, and promising protest votes for Nader.
Angus Beaton writes:
I will not vote for Obama or any Democrat until I see them acting like an opposition party. They do not support our Constitution . I will vote for Nader, at least I know how he would vote on FISA.
Chris Nuckols counters:
I however will still be voting for Obama, I’m not going to risk destroying the entire nation over this, it’s our fault for not choosing a better candidate in the primary season. I may not vote for him in the primary in the future if something doesn’t come of all this but I’m certainly not going to throw my democratic vote in the trash over an issue as small as this. Is this really worth risking another 100 years in Iraq? We may think we have unlimited choices in our elections but it’s just not true, right now it’s McCain or Obama and voting for the lesser of 2 evils is better than letting the most evil one win. Remember 2000? Do you want to be remembered as “That guy who voted for Nader who if he voted for Gore we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in today?”
Will Obama heed the warning? Does the FISA fallout threaten his rise to the White House? Stay tuned and find out. Or, play the home version and get involved.
Why the hell not? This is the greatest video game on Earth.
