Another View of Georgia-Ossetia-Russia

Eyewitness testimony to the Russia-Ossetia-Georgia conflict. Not Fox News approved at all. Remember we’re on the side of Georgia. It is interesting to note, there are allegations that Georgian troops invaded South Ossetia as part of a NATO sponsored initiative. In order for Georgia to achieve a more permanent peace and to join NATO, it must secure its borders. This would be subjugating South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

Years ago, we couldn’t imagine Italy being admitted into NATO if Sardinia and say Sicily were not under Rome’s control. This is much the case with Georgia today. The President of Georgia took the chance to stir the pot. He made a move on the breakaway States, much like if the People’s Republic invaded the island of Taiwan. We in the United States guarantee the security of the Republic of China against the People’s Republic of China.

Russia was very much obligated to defend South Ossetia. The security guarantees that Moscow gave the South Ossetians brought a sort of defacto peace to the country much to the chagrin of Tbilisi. North Ossetia is an integral part of the Russian Federation, so Russia does have a legitimate interest in the area. This isn’t a trumped up power play by Russia. Although, the Russians like to play hard ball games and they sure love to wave tanks in front of TV cameras. They need a big time Madison Avenue public relations firm.

Russia needs a lobby in Washington like Israel has. All this makes you wonder why Russia was backing South Ossetia? I mean, we know they control North Ossetia, but why South? There is the oil pipeline to Turkey at stake. Fair enough. Ego and vanity. Yes, that’s present too.

Then why would Georgia take such an enormous risk? Maybe, they had little to lose and everything to gain. It is possible, they knew that Russia would be portrayed as the big bad bear. Even losing militarily would ensure a victory in the court of international opinion. More sinisterly, it is possible the “West” is looking to set Russia up. This gives NATO the green light to expand. Poland has recently accepted U.S. Missiles right on the border with Russia [Kaliningrad] and Belarus [A Russian Client State].

Russian payback for Kosovo? Yes and no. The spinsters can claim Russia took South Ossetia for NATO’s Kosovo grab. But the reality is far different. Russia backed up an ally. Georgia is America’s ally and has troops in Iraq. America isn’t backing up Georgia militarily in this conflict, just diplomatically.

The bottom line is neither Moscow or Washington should be involved in these conflicts. The people that have to live in these areas should decide. Ideally, let all of Ossetia unite under one flag. Both North & South should unify. Ditch all of these big federations and go with an independent sovereign state of Ossetia. Just like how Kosovo and Albania should merge. Let ethnic people come together.
