Citizen Kennedy

Ted Kennedy

The Lion of Senate, the Swimmer, Uncle Ted oe the sole surviving Kennedy brother. When the cancer stricken Senator rose to the podium at the Denver Democrat convention last night. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. The Democrats surely knew deep down inside they had nominated the wrong man for the job. Sure they tried to put Uncle Buck, I mean Uncle Ted on the ballot in 1980, but he lost to incumbent Jimmy Carter.

Kennedy at least is consistent. You know what he stands for and what he’s going to say. He’s predictable. He has been advocating for the same issues since before the birth of Barack Obama. At least the Senator is authentic and genuine. At this point, in a straight up Ted Kennedy v. John McCain ballot, I’d pull the lever for Kennedy. In fact, I might even write his name in him. But I’m committed to Barack since I want to join the mindless idiots out there in the hinterlands.

Ideological ideologues are iconic in my book. This is why the likes of Ayn Rand, Ron Paul, to a large degree Ronald Reagan and yes Ted Kennedy are on my list of heroes. When the good Senator licks cancer, my prediction is they’ll hold a parade at the Fenway that will rival any of the Red Sox World Series victory parties.
