The referendum has finally arrived on the subject of negotiations with the Evo Morales government on autonomy for Santa Cruz. The national government has declared the referendum illegal. Meanwhile, Morales has announced the nationalization of Bolivia’s telephone and gas companies. A showdown is brewing with much at stake.
